FOR TOWN ELECTION - OCTOBER 14, 2008

    VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR BERLIN TOWN ELECTIONS IS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2008.    
   
     YOU MUST BE REGISTERED WITH THE COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS TO BE ABLE TO VOTE IN THE TOWN'S MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS. The Town does not conduct separate voter registrations. Under the provisions of the Charter of the Town of Berlin, Article VI, eligible voters shall be:
1. A citizen of the United States.
2. At least eighteen (18) years of age.
3. Registered in accordance with section C6-6 of the Charter of the Town of Berlin
4. Domiciled within the corporate limits of the Town of Berlin for one-hundred-eighty (180) days preceding the election.
 
    You may register IN PERSON at the Worcester County Board of Elections at 100 Belt Street in Snow Hill, Maryland, weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. OR, you may register BY MAIL, with the proper registration form. Forms can be requested by calling 410-632-1320, or may be picked up from many available locations - POST OFFICES, LIBRARIES, SCHOOLS, HEALTH CLINICS, AND THE BERLIN TOWN HALL.

    If you are already registered with Worcester County, you must notify the County Board of Elections Office of any changes in your name and address. If you are a registered County voter and have recently moved into Town, you must notify the County to be eligible to vote in Town elections.

    VOTERS NOT REGISTERED WITH THE COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS ON OR BEFORE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2008 WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO VOTE IN THE TOWN OF BERLIN ELECTIONS ON OCTOBER 14, 2008.

*** NOTICE OF ABSENTEE BALLOT APPLICATION AVAILABILITY ***
FOR TOWN ELECTION - OCTOBER 14, 2008

    The Town of Berlin Board of Elections Supervisors will accept applications for Absentee Ballots BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 15, 2008 for the Municipal Election scheduled for October 14, 2008.

APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE MADE AVAILABLE BEFORE THAT DATE, AND MUST BE RETURNED BY THE DEADLINE TO BE ACCEPTED.

    APPLICATIONS must be RECEIVED in the Berlin Town Hall NOT LATER THAN 5:00 P.M. ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2008 for the voter to be eligible to receive an Absentee Ballot for the October 14, 2008 Town Election.

    ABSENTEE BALLOTS will be accepted up to the close of the polls at 7:00 p.m. on October 14, 2008.

*** NOTICE OF CANDIDATE FILING DEADLINE ***
FOR TOWN ELECTION - OCTOBER 14, 2008

    Notice is hereby given that the filing deadline for candidates in the Berlin Municipal Election scheduled for October 14, 2008 for the Off ice of Mayor and for Council seats in Districts 2 and 3 is 5:00 P.M. ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2008.

    Applications for candidacy, along with required financial disclosure forms may be picked up Monday through Friday at the Berlin Town Hall, 10 William Street, Berlin, Maryland between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Applications must be returned by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2008 to be valid for placement on the October 14, 2008 ballot.

OCTOBER 14, 2008
OFFICE OF MAYOR AND COUNCIL SEATS FOR DISTRICTS 2 AND 3

    Notice is hereby given to all eligible voters of the Town of Berlin that a Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 for the Office of Mayor and for Council Seats in Districts 2 and 3. 
   
    Voters residing in Districts 1 and 2 will vote at Buckingham Presbyterian Church, 20 S. Main Street, Berlin, Maryland, and voters residing in Districts 3 and 4 will vote at the Multi-Purpose Building on Flower Street, next to the Head Start Center. District 1 and District 4 voters will only be able to vote for the office of Mayor, which will appear on the ballot at both voting locations.

    Both polling places will open at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, and will remain open until 7:00 p.m. Absentee ballots will be accepted until the close of polls.
