§ 38A-1. Numbers required.

The owners of all buildings in the Town of Berlin will be required to place or cause to be placed upon such building the number or numbers assigned to said building by the Mayor and Council.

§ 38A-2. Height, material and color.

Numbers used shall be at least three inches in height, made of a durable and clearly visible material and shall be of a contrasting color from the background.

§ 38A-3. Placement.

The numbers shall be conspicuously placed immediately above, on or at the side of the proper door for each building in order that the numbers can be seen clearly from the roadway. Whenever any building is more than 75 feet from the roadway or whenever the numbers on the building are not clearly visible from the roadway, the address numbers must be placed at the main entrance or driveway of the building, on the same side of the roadway as the building and in such a manner as to be seen clearly from the roadway.

 

§ 38A-4. Grid maps on file with town.

Grid maps of all streets, avenues, roads, public ways and private drives within the Town of Berlin showing the proper numbers of all structures fronting upon the public or private ways shall be kept on file in Town Hall. These grid maps shall be kept open for public inspection by the Mayor and Council.

§ 38A-5. Violations and penalties.

Any person violating any provisions of this chapter shall have committed a municipal infraction, subject to a fine of $10 or the first offense and $25 for each subsequent offense. Each day that such a violation occurs shall be considered a separate offense.
